Seahawks coach Pete Carroll made it clear Monday that his team is still exploring possible additions at quarterback, and a pair of high-profile names could be in play.
During an appearance on ESPN 710 Seattle, Carroll was asked specifically about Colin Kaepernick and Robert Griffin III as options to back up Russell Wilson this year and indicated the Seahawks would be open to either.
"We're looking at everybody … we really are," Carroll said. "We've been tracking everything that's going on, and we've got cap and roster issues and stuff like that that we're still trying to make sure that we manage properly. But quite frankly, yes, we are looking at all those guys."
Kaepernick's wait for employment has been well-chronicled and Griffin's less so, but either would provide a veteran hand behind the durable Wilson, who has never missed a game in his five-year NFL career.
Rookie Trevone Boykin was Wilson's backup last year after signing as an undrafted free agent and ended up seeing action in five games. He was arrested twice in the span of just over a week earlier this spring, first on March 27 for public intoxication and marijuana possession and later because that arrest was a violation of his probation from a December 2015 incident while he was at TCU.
